BIOLOGY:
In this unit we will look at how organisms interact and respond to different conditions on planet Earth. A major focus will be on how changes in one part of an ecosystem can have effects (often very unexpected effects) on the rest of that ecosystem and even on other ecosystems.
Consider the textbook as a supplement to this section as much of the work is not from the textbook. In particular we will spend considerable time discussing human impact on the global environment. We will discuss climate change and spend significant time looking into social factors that affect the health of the Earth.
Below the section descriptions you can find copies of selected notes, worksheets and answer keys. This is a work in progress, so don't expect to find everything there.

Chapter 1: The Biosphere
1.1 Biomes: A look at the largest of the divisions of the Earth into distinct regions based on climate and dominant vegetation. Included will be a discussion of some of the incredible ways organisms adapt to survive in some extreme conditions. 1.2 Ecosystems: A more detailed study of the ways in which organisms interact within a habitat. Concepts of symbiosis and predator prey relationships will be discussed.

3.3 Introduced Species: Ecosystems are often very finely balanced. When organisms are introduced to these systems, either accidentally of intentionally there can be profound impacts. The video above, "How Wolves Change Rivers", demonstrates this beautifully!
